What it is
FLUX is the model family from Black Forest Labs. The newest generation, FLUX 3, covers images, video with optional audio and clips up to 20 seconds, and an open-weights 7B model for robotics. The FLUX.2 line, including the smaller [klein] models and [dev], remains available, along with tools for outpainting, erasing and virtual try-on. You can try models in a browser playground, call them through the API, or download weights from Hugging Face.
It suits builders more than casual users: there is no consumer app beyond the playground. The API is pay as you go with no subscription, priced per generation by model and resolution. Most open weights, including FLUX.2 [dev] and [klein] 9B, need a paid license for commercial use, sold in tiers by monthly image volume. FLUX.2 [klein] 4B is the exception: it is released under the Apache 2.0 license, so it can be used commercially for free.
