What it is
Speechify is a text to speech reader. It reads web pages, documents and files from Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive aloud, and Scan & Listen turns photos of printed pages into audio. It comes as iPhone, iPad and Android apps, Chrome and Edge extensions, a web app, and Mac and Windows apps. Premium adds AI summaries and chat about what you are reading, voice typing for dictation, AI podcasts and a voice assistant.
The free plan is limited to 10 robotic-sounding voices at up to 1.5x speed. Premium costs $29 a month billed monthly, less on the yearly plan, and unlocks more than 1,000 natural voices in 60+ languages at up to 5x speed. Because the free voices are basic, the free tier works mainly as a preview.
