What it is
Hemingway Editor highlights hard-to-read sentences, adverbs, passive voice and complicated words, and gives your text a readability grade level. The free online editor shows these highlights; Hemingway Editor Plus adds AI sentence rewrites, grammar fixes, tone and length adjustments and document feedback. The older Hemingway Editor 3 desktop app for Mac and Windows is a one-time $19.99 purchase without the AI features.
It suits writers who want plainer prose rather than a full proofreader. Plus has a 2-week free trial with no credit card; the Individual plan costs $8.33 a month billed annually ($100 a year) for 5,000 AI sentence rewrites a month.
