What it is
Zed is a code editor for macOS, Windows and Linux, licensed mainly under GPL-3.0 and built for speed and multiplayer collaboration. Its AI features include edit predictions as you type and an agent panel that works with Zed-hosted models, your own keys for providers such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Ollama and OpenRouter, or external agents. All AI features can be turned off.
The Personal plan is free forever, with unlimited use through your own keys or external agents. Pro costs $10 a month and adds unlimited edit predictions, $5 of hosted model usage, then billing at API list price plus 10%. A 14-day Pro trial needs no card. Business is $30 per seat a month; SSO is planned but not yet available.
