What it is
Microsoft 365 Copilot, which Microsoft now markets as Microsoft Copilot for work, runs inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams and answers using your organization's email, files and meetings through what Microsoft calls Work IQ. It chooses among several AI models automatically, lets people build agents with Agent Builder or Copilot Studio, and works on desktop, mobile and web. Newer features such as Copilot Code are in Microsoft's Frontier early-access program.
It requires a paid Microsoft 365 plan. Microsoft lists Copilot for individuals at $9.99 a month, business plans that bundle Copilot with Microsoft 365 at $23.50 per user a month paid yearly, and enterprise plans at $30 per user a month paid yearly. Organizations with an eligible subscription get Copilot Chat with web results at no extra cost, but answers grounded in work data need a Copilot license.
Best for
- Organizations that already run on Microsoft 365
